If you are a guy over 35 who dumped more quarters at the local arcade than you care to remember, you quite simply need this in your life. I think we can all agree that nostalgic games just don’t feel right with an Xbox or PS controller and are downright awful with touch screen. This gem is the solution.
You will feel like a kid again with iCade Core’s authentic joystick and buttons. Pac Man, Defender, Joust, Gauntlet, and Spy Hunter all work flawlessly. Before the iCade Core graced my living room, I logged perhaps 10, 20 frustrating seconds on these beloved old school games. In just two days after opening the box, the included AA batteries have already given me many hours of giddy enjoyment with these dusted off games.
The Bluetooth connection works flawlessly lag-free with the high quality joystick and buttons that seem grafted from a professional arcade cabinet. Many reviews complain about the loud clicking buttons…well just take a look at prices for mechanical keyboards. These buttons are much higher quality than the typical run-of-the-mill membrane switches that would fail under the heavy duty of frantic button mashing in Joust or Defender. As a mechanical design engineer, I can say this product is unquestionably worth every penny of its MSRP and is an absolute steal at the current market price.
If you cut your teeth on Nintendo, you likely would prefer Ion’s 8-bitty controller. However if you ever begged your mom and dad for quarters, then this is your ticket. Now for the love of Pete will Konami please make Time Pilot for iPad!
